Michelle de Jongh - My story part 3
I woke up after the surgery and I saw my mom sitting next to the bed. I wasn't totally awake.I dozed off several times in just one minute. That happened for a couple of hours. I felt sick, like I was going to throw up. After awhile I was sitting up and was like normal. Except the fact that I know had iceblocks round my knee, and a new ACL. So when I had eaten we could go home.
This was the 1st of September an right then and there my journey back began. The first 2 weeks I walked with crutches. I got to do exercises, bending my knee and trying to stretch it out as much as possible. After three weeks I could ride my bike to school. And it didn't last so long in between my progress. I was long before the schedule. So this period of the first weeks I was really optimistic and happy. I just took it as it came.
At this time my dad who worked as an officer in the swedish military was away in Afghanistan. This worried me a bit, but I worked hard and I was stubborn, I wanted to be whole when my dad got home in december. And my hard work paid of. In december I was on my way to start with soccer again.
It was a hard time for me when I thought that I could already play and that my knee was back to normal. I was so eager to start again. I wanted it so bad. But I had to wait, and I leraned to be patient. It went by so slowly, that month before I was allowed to play. But finally I got to step onto the pitch again. The joy i felt then was ineffable.
So in February I was back in the game again. From September to February I worked hard and didn't give up a single time. I was back and did my best to get in shape and it didn't take long. My troubles from 2011 was over. At least for a year.
