Michelle de Jongh - My story part 1
Hello, my name is Michelle de Jongh. I am 17 years old and right now I live in Örebro, Sweden. I moved here last year and now I live by myself. The reason I moved was because I got a contract to play with KIF Örebro. So this is my current status. No injuries, just bruises and I'm back in the game. But I have had my share of set backs. And it started in 2011.
In the start of the season of 2011, 3 years ago, I was only thirteen about to turn fourteen. I played in a club called Mariestads BoIS FF. I was really good so I played with the division two team. So in the start of the season we had our first away game. I can't remember which team we were playing against but I remember we went with the bus for 3 hours. I was in the starting eleven for the first time in my original position, central midfielder. I was excited and know it was my time to shine. This was 5 days before my birthday so I was not fourteen yet. Of course I felt proud but the oppurtunity didn't last very long. 20 minutes in to the game i got a huge hit on my knee..
I screamed, shut my eyes and took a hold of my knee. The pain was instant and didn't last too long. I could walk of the pitch, limping a bit. I tried to run to get back in the game but it wasn't possible. So there I was. Had no idea what had just happened to my knee, but probably that is the moment my ACL in the right knee snapped.
The day after we went to the doctor. The knee was really swollen and I couldn't get it out straight, so of course I looked like I was in pain. When the doctor examined the knee he didn't get much out of it, he just said get back to training in a good pace, it shouldn't be no worries. But my mom insisted on getting MRI. We couldnt get one right away, but about 2 months later we got one.
Because we didn't know anything about the knee before the MRI, i started doing rehab, i went out running in the tracks in the woods next to the house. I was determined to come along to Gothia Cup that year. This is the start of my ACLstory.
To be continued..
